KONICHIWA!! I know i'm posting these things out like a rabbit, lately, but it's because i'm anxious to get to some of my further chapters!! They start getting a little better, and i'm actualy quite proud of some of them. Once i get caught up in my Kanshihei: The Observer chapters, i MIGHT start another side blog to post a couple chapters from my The Cat & The Jay book. It's way different from this book and the storyline and character directions are totally different..The writing style is more modern too...But i'm not sure it's ready for scrutiny yet. (I haven't edited it to my standards quite yet, but it's written much better than these beginning few chapters to Kanshihei: The Observer ) Well, I think I've done enough rambling for today, so, here's Chapter Eight mi amigos!
Chapter Eight:
Date Night
From The View Of:
Kanshihei
"You will be escorting the man in the charcoal black suit with light silver pinstripes. His under shirt will be ivory. Dress formally and don't act out of place. The Client will approach you first."
I'd already recieved the location in a previous messege and I guessed that this one was so that I wouldn't rip off the guy's head when he approached me. I didn't quite understand it but whatever this was about, I could handle it. Probably some rich snob that needs protection. The petty little shit.
There wasn't much I could do with my hair to go formal so i just sprayed some shine serum into it and brushed my fingers through it. I wanted to play up the vulnerable-rich-girl look so I used more makeup that i usually do- which is absolutely none.
When I looked up into the mirror I almost believed the disguise myself. My eyes looked large and sweet with all the shadow I had used and my lips were a pale pink. Other than the fact that my pupils were back to being slits, I totally had the vulnerable look down.
I, of course, hadn't had any formal clothes with me when I came to France so I had just used all the money I needed from some rich guy's bank account to buy a dress from some website with over-night delivery.
I didn't quite feel like myself in the light material of the black dress. The shortest point was right below my hip and the longest point to right above my knee. The diagnal cut passed for formal so it would have to work. The straps were thin and the front was revealing so it helped with the little-rich-girl look i was aiming for. I wanted to add my own touch so I put on a thin silver necklace with a small emerald jewel in the middle of it. My shoes were heeled but I knew I could run in them if i had to.
Before I walked out of the bathroom I sprayed on enough perfume to smell like a French Hooker and smiled at my reflection one last time. One may think it was because I was happy with my looks, but It was actually because I was wondering what my client would think we he saw "fragile" little ol' me. My slitted pupils transformed into round little circles and I left the hotel at a leisurely pace.
..............................................................................
I honestly couldn't contain my nerves when I walked in the door. I mean, I've done escorts before, but not his kind. The last one I did was running through a savannah in Australia with a quarter-demon jewel theif thrown over my shoulder. I'd been keeping him away from the Australian mafia whom he apparently owed money. "Australia has a mafia problem?" one may ask... My answer... You don't even know the half of it.
The lights were dimmed so the brightest areas in the large room were around the clumps of candles at the buffet tables. It was wide open so I didn't feel too cramped, but there were quite a lot of people. What is supposed to be going on here, anyway? Escape routes seemed easy to find. There were quite a lot of stained glass windows which were always extremely easy to smash and I could spot a few open doors leading to various hallways. All the food on the buffet tables was fresh and smelt free of toxins so food poisoning was out for a possible assassination option concerning the client. Although I do think that I may have recieved a few stares when I was sniffing the crumpets.
I was about to start looking for the job i was assigned to when a hand closed lightly around my forearm. I turned and stared straight into brilliant swirls of purple and blue.
"Didn't I tell you not to act out of place? Darling, normal people don't sniff the crumpets..."
I kept staring in disbelief as he smiled at me. He was wearing a charcoal black suit with thin, almost non-descript, silver pinstripes. His undershirt was ivory. Oh damn.
"Now, quit staring because it may pull attention." he said softly, then continued when he recieved no response from me. "You might as well forget the notion of being my escort. That was only to get you here, but i'll still pay you whatever you want if you complete the rest of the task I have planned."
He raised an eyebrow and I blinked a bit to try and clear my mind.
"What's the job?" I mumbled.
He smiled and spoke softly, "All you have to do is be my date for the night, sweetheart."
I could have beat the crap out of him at that very moment JUST for calling me sweetheart, but I needed the money more than I was going to let on. Stealing from the occassional rich man wasn't helping me keep up my particular lifestyle. Even the rewards for my jobs don't add up to much, considering all my traveling fees.
"I'm guessing that i'm not getting my pistol back...?" I raised and eyebrow.
He just smiled and grinned again. Tch. What an Ass.
(end)
