Chapter Three and Four

Konichiwa! I've decided to combine Chapter Three and Four for this next post. Be sure to read the Prologue and Chapters 1 & 2 before starting on this one! Note: These chapters, for me, aren't my best, but they do a pretty good job at introducing Tetsudai, the new assisting character. Enjoy!

Chapter 3:
Passion Of The Moment

I was lying on my stomach on the top of a skyscraper near the spot where I would see the job. I stared through my binoculars and nodded my head to the music coming from my mp3 player. I was about three hours early for the job but I wanted to make sure I knew the place.

The bottom of the bell tower was similar to a church on the inside, although now it held no services... it didn't exactly hold anything anymore. It was abandoned so I assumed my job was a drug dealer or something along mobster lines. Nobody else would come to such a run-down place like this.

I nodded along with the old Bon Jovi songs on my preset playlist and must've dozed off.

I woke up to a loud guitar solo on a Guns N' Roses classic then glanced down at my watch and cursed loudly. It was already ten-thirty and the sky was dark and cloudy.

I stood and stretched, getting my muscles warmed up. I would have to go into the tower and look for this blue-coat-red-scarf person.

I hopped off the edge of the skyscraper and dropped like a rock. One may be exclaiming, "Why the hell would she just hop off the edge like that?" Well, my answer would be, Because I felt like it.

I landed in a crouch on the sidewalk without even a bruise, as any regular human would have been a pancake.

I stood slowly and looked around. Nobody was close enough to have seen me except a homeless woman in the opening of a nearby alley, but she was either asleep or dead. No problem there.

I pulled my pistol out of my fanny pack and stuck four extra bullets in my front left pocket. I dropped the fanny pack on the ground next to me then walked across the street toward the bell tower.

The doors were large and a closer inspection of the hinges showed there was no way i was going to get in there quietly. I pulled open the door and it creaked loudly. I flinched and stepped inside. The door shut even louder behind me and I jumped again.
I put one hand in my hoodie pocket and loosely held my pistol in the other.

"Come out, come out, where ever you are!" I yelled then chuckled.

"I know somebody is here. If there is anybody else besides a person with a blue jacket and a red scarf, I advise you to leave. I only need to speak to the particular person I described. No more bloodbath than necessary, please." I cocked my head to the side slowly, listening.

I heard shuffling and a young man walked out of a nearby arched doorway. With my sharp, half-demon eyes, I could make out his looks although he was partially in the shadows.

He was lean but he had a fair amount of muscle. His face was extremely attractive. There was something odd about his eyes. His iris's were a dark indigo, almost a purple. His mouth was set in a smirk. His hair was a bit short but a few strands hung forward in the front. He was pale but not the unattractive type. his charcoal black hair looked soft, as his skin did too.

My eyes swept down his body to see that he was wearing a blood red scarf and a thin cobalt blue jacket that was slightly unzipped to show a white shirt with "NERD" written on it. Nice shirt. He was wearing skinny jeans that hung low and bulky skater shoes. All in all, he looked between the ages of nineteen and twenty-three.

As i was intently staring him down he suddenly smiled brightly and spoke. "See anything you like?"

I looked into his sparkling eyes and frowned. It was an unusual feeling that went through me but I wasn't able to put my finger on it.

"I am merely here to complete my job." I stated as I tapped my fingers lightly on the bottom of my pistol.

His smile faltered and a disappointed look crossed his eyes, "You're awfully pretty to be an assassin... but I guess looks don't matter, do they?"

My eyes widened slightly then I pointed my gun at him with a hard expression. I wanted to get this over with. This guy was making me extremely uncomfortable. I still couldn't figure it out but I felt like I knew him. "Any last words?" I said quickly.

He smiled again, "You're a bit more polite than the others they've sent after me. They were all walk and no talk. You seem more fun."

I stared at his eyes and saw that what I believed to originally be indigo was swirls of blue and purple. This guy definitely wasn't human.

I felt myself go stiff as a memory of something i had studied popped into my head.
Each of the four obsidian demons had colors that reflected their auras. As they had large control over their auras, it only showed through their eyes instead of over their whole bodies. Love's were dark green and light green, which were the colors blended into my eyes.

This kid with the blue and indigo eyes could only be one thing... a son of Passion.

Chapter Four:
Whose Your Daddy?

I stared at him and the hold on my pistol loosened and my eyes grew wide.

He tilted his head at how stricken I looked. He raised his eyebrows and said, "What's wrong, girly? I thought you were going to kill me."

In my own mind i ran through a million possibilities. Unlike most demons, the four (three) obsidian demons get major possession issues concerning their children. If i were to shoot Passion's son, i would be hunted for the rest of my life. Being Love's daughter probably wouldn't help much either. I think the Obsidians, like other demons, probably didn't hold high regards for each other when it came to anything, really.

I backed up and pointed my gun at the ceiling. I shot a few rounds in case my employers were nearby then looked straight at Passion Jr.

"Lay low for a while. I need the money." I turned and started walking away. He coughed loudly and I turned with an expressionless face.

He shuffled awkwardly then mumbled, "Uh... Why aren't you trying to kill me?"

I simply stared at him and decided I might as well give him an answer. "I'm not new to being an assassin so don't think I'm weak for letting you live. It is for my own benefit and nothing else. I know who and what you are. If I were to kill you, I would be hunted for the rest of my life."

He looked puzzled, baffled, even. "How do you know that? Only a demon would know even a bit of what you just said. You're just a pretty little human-"

I hissed and interrupted, "I'm not human you nimrod. I'm half-demon, just as you are. Learn to validly assess your enemies before making assumptions." I pointed a finger at one of my eyes.

He stared at my eyes and his expression cleared. A stunned expression quickly replaced the clearance he had beforehand.

"Well, hello... daughter of... Love?"

I bit my lip and confirmed his statement with a nod.

His eyes widened as he continued staring at me. I was tired and frustrated that i more than likely wouldn't get my money. I turned and walked out the door slowly, leaving the man behind me.

That night I walked all the way to uptown dallas and found a nice hotel. I got a spacious deluxe room. "With what?" one may be asking, "You have not a thing with you but that bloddy pistol!" Oh, it's nothing. I merely stole a blackcard from a rich pedestrian. He won't miss it for a while.

I took a scalding shower and lied down in the soft bed. I wore just some grey shorts and a think black tank top. My body wasn't tired but my mind was beat. I haven't had many enjoyable jobs lately. They were all too easy, that is, until this last one. It was just annoying and frustrating, not being able to kill him.

I sighed and as my mind raced around thinking through everything that had happened during the day, i finally dozed off. I couldn't stop dreaming about that Passion kid. There had to be a reason why I had met a child of an Obsidian. It had never happened before and there shouldn't have beena reason for it to happen now.

  2. (This is the writer for the moment. too lazy to log in an respond)that's exactly what one of my friends said!(the sexual tension thing) Haha, how weird. I should've worked a little more on description in this chapter, but i kind of wanted to focus on the dialogue. :)
